Nuts and honey sweets

December, month of feasts and libations.
Here is an ancient recipe ( it seems to date back to the ancient Romans!!! ), particularly right for this period.
We have to cut up roughly 1 kilo of nuts kernels.
Now we put gr. 900 of honey in a pot on a light fire until it melts, then we pour in it the nuts already cut and we stir softly.
Let’s oil lightly a marble surface or a rolling board, then we lay down the compound, by levelling it about 1 cm thick through a wet knife-blade.
Let it cool down but, before it becomes cold, we have to cut it in many pieces of lozenge shape and anyone of them must be put between two washed and dried large leaves of laurel.
They will take a very special flavour and taste.

They last for a long time and they will gladden your Christmas period.
